    Hello,

my Skyrim CTDs (hangs on desktop) with no error message on any type of save (normal save, quick save, autosave..) Basically spent 5-6 hours searching the web for a solution, so far to no avail. Basically my Skyrim is now unplayable because I can't save my game. Whichever type of storage I choose, it will immediately depend on the desktop.

    I've tried so far:
    - complete reinstallation
    - Driver updates
    -LAA, 4GB Skyrim
    - Modify .ini files in many ways
    - Disabled all autosave features in options menu
    - deleted skyrim.ini and skyrimrefs.ini for the game to regenerate them

Unsuccessfully. At least I can narrow my problem down to the memory function. It looks like my backup files are corrupted. When I start a new game, the save function works. I've read that it has something to do with the saved file size. Save files over 10-12 MB seem to crash the game on save.

I have about 50 hours of gameplay and my character is above level 30, I definitely don't want to reset. Please let us know if you've encountered similar crash save issues and if you have a working fix for this. My last hope - assuming I'm not the only one suffering from this - is for Bethesda to release a good update/patch that fixes the problem. But who knows when.

EDIT #1: Forgot to mention that I can successfully load any previous save game, I just can't create new saves due to the crash. So it's probably not a question of corrupted saves, but corrupted save functions.

I had the same issue with my save, with one small difference. I was still able to save sometimes, but after a certain (short) time into a game session, the game would crash on saves no matter what.
I tried several things including removing all potentially conflicting mods, clearing memory with 1 day respawn and 1 day corpses removing ESPS+sleeping for a while (this allowed saving
without crashing, unfortunately only for a short time).

I then reverted to a much earlier save (played with 1.1) and on the first save attempt it was CTD again.

In my opinion, the problem is in patch 1.3. I don't think it has anything to do with the file size as my save is "only" 7MB.

To solve the problem, I can only recommend rolling back to 1.1. This includes downgrading all the tools you use (TesV.exe and Skyrimlauncher.exe, also 4gpatcher if using SKSE + container categorization,
Scriptdragon and of course also the old interface.bsa, otherwise Fast Travel won't work and may cause other interface issues)
All installed mods and textures should work.

At least it works for me and now I can play without crashing again.

If you have more questions, just send a PM.

Good luck getting your game working again!

You wouldn't randomly useit's Proudspire mode, You would go? I just experienced a save crash today after installing this mod yesterday. After trying a few other things to no avail, I finally tried uninstalling this mod and everything works fine again, no more ctd on save. If not, try uninstalling any other ESP mods you may have installed.

I'm actually using the mod you mentioned... but it's worked great so far, so I don't think it has anything to do with my CTDs.
Bad news: after fixing the game, now it crashes again the same way. In the meantime, I've leveled up 5-6 levels, completed about 10-15 quests, and now, out of nowhere, I can't use the save functions again. My game doesn't crash on trips, heavy actions or anything else, just when I try to save the game with any method.. Weird right..? And I'm on patch 1.1 with no steam and no new mods installed since I managed to fix it.

I honestly have no idea what's going on. It's like there's a counter built into the CTD to randomly start my game when I feel like I've played enough nowSkyrim crashes immediately when saving. Please help! - Skyrim technical support (32)I am totally clueless as to what could be the cause.

I bet this mod is all about your CTDs. Disable it and see if you can save. Many people had the same problem after playing for a few hours with this mod installed. It never happens right away, so you wouldn't immediately know it's the cause, but it is. I was able to play fine for a few hours. It was only after using a carriage to travel with this mod that it started crashing for me. I removed the mod and my game is fine. You don't even have to start a new character. Just uncheck this mod in your load order. I also really liked this mod. It was the best Proudspire mod out there, but unfortunately it breaks the ability to save...

I disabled it, but I still can't save. Okay, I understand this doesn't fix the problem right away, but how then? Should I play as far as possible without saving and then try to save, risking losing all my current progress? How do I know my game is ok now and can I save again?

Is there a way to "force" Skyrim to understand that the mod is disabled? if it makes senseSkyrim crashes immediately when saving. Please help! - Skyrim technical support (44)

wr_berg, I checked this mod in the source and indeed many people are reporting the same issue. Just one more question, how can I reorganize all my stuff currently stored in the basement, save the game and remove the mod? Because as far as I can see, I actually lost all things collected related to this mod / kept in containers delivered by this mod. Catch 22: If I want to play, I have to disable this mod. Until I uncheck it, I can't save. Once disabled, there are no more saved itemsSkyrim crashes immediately when saving. Please help! - Skyrim technical support (50)Baaaahhh..

Hmmm. If you disabled the mod correctly, it can be immediately saved. Did you go to the data files and uncheck the box next to the .esp file for this mod? Or are you using Nexus Mod Manager? In that case, disabling the mod should do all the work for you. If you disabled correctly but still can't save, there's another problem... :\

To properly disable it, launch the game via Steam, not the Skryim4gb loader (if you have it), to get the menu with "PLAY, OPTIONS, DATA FILES, TECH SUPPORT, EXIT" and select "Data files". Uncheck the box next to Proudspire.esp and click OK, then click EXIT. Start the game normally and see if you can save.

One of the comments on the mod's page states that if you disable all autosave settings, you can enter the house and it will supposedly allow you to manually save back into the game for about 24 hours:

If your save is corrupted by CTD, you can disable autosave and return to the mansion. After signing in, you can save again, at least for another 24 hours. But you can clear all your loot and uninstall the mod without losing anything. You don't need to go back to older saves.

If this works as described by hanli427, you can turn autosave off, enter the house, remove any items you want to keep from the areas added by the mod (the forge room, the new Housecarl room, new chests, weapon racks, mounts of weapons, etc. The item in areas the mod hasn't changed should be ok). Then leave home and manually save (again, this assumes hanli427 said it works). Then exit the game, uninstall the mod, reload your previous save and you should be fine.

Unfortunately, if you can't get it to work like Hanli427 said, you'll have to live without these elements.Skyrim crashes immediately when saving.
